Are you a carer who looks after a family member, friend or perhaps a neighbour?

The Innovation in Healthy Ageing Programme* has given carers like you the opportunity to access improved resources through the Devon Digital Carers project.

Our aim is to give you, a carer in Devon, key information to support you in your important role.  This project follows on from a successful pilot in Torbay during 2018 and should reach around 84,000 like you in the county.

The main focus of this project is a video library designed specifically for you. It’s been attached to over sixty care organisation sites across Devon, so you’re bound to find one that’s nearby and relevant to you.

The videos themselves are quick and easy to understand. There are 350 and they cover a range of topics, including ‘preventing falls’, ‘how to communicate with someone who has dementia’, ‘caring for yourself as a carer’ and ‘dealing with anxiety’, which might be useful for you.

These libraries also include links to local resources you might find helpful. They have information about support groups, benefits, general welfare and more.

You can even carry this information around in your pocket in a mobile app so you can access it whenever and wherever you need it; click here to download the app.

We hope that these new online resources will help you in your role as a carer and find the support you need to provide support for your loved one and maintain a healthy lifestyle yourself.

“The Innovation in Healthy Ageing programme is proud to be part of this digital initiative that’s supporting carers across the region.

The video library is an easily accessible and engaging resource. It also standardises the information carers are getting and places it all in a centralised location.

“We can’t wait to see how the different organisations use the library and the positive impact it will have for local carers.”
